Everybody loves Theo de Raadt. Ok, not really.

Theo de Raadt. The OpenBSD Project’s boss-man, head developer, or as he himself characterizes his role, the project’s “benevolent dictator.” Creator of arguably the most secure operating system on the planet, scourge of developers who create software under closed, restrictive licenses, hardware vendors who refuse to provide documentation for their products. Linux’s Linus Torvalds calls him “difficult,” ‘net writers and reviewers think twice before interviewing him. Love him or hate him, the man already has his place in UNIX history secure. Here’s a collection of Theo-isms:

Why I don’t use Linux (2)

1) Who’d use something with a fat penguin as a mascot? Retards.
2) Linux users worship Richard Stallman, or RMS, as he’s often referred to. By fellow nutjobs.
3) Gaytoo’s “Portage” is a shameless ripoff of the BSDs’ ports system. Thieves.
4) Linux users absolutely cannot understand that Linux is JUST THE KERNEL and NOT the Operating System. Geniuses.

An excerpt:
“Here’s a sample of the “seriously heavy lyrics” in Vertigo:
WoooAoo! WoooAoo! WoooAoo! WoooAoo!

When young people disappear: Patricia Evangelista on the wasteland that is Central Luzon

Forget the inane predictions about “an economy poised for takeoff.” Forget about ethereal “Mega-Regions” on the drawing boards. Forget about eminently demeaning and nearsighted plans about “Super-Pinoys” out to demonstrate “World-class Caregiving and Domestic Maintenance Skills.” Forget about slavish insistence on turnng this country into an “Outsourcing Hub.” Drown out the shrill antics of the missing links we call “Congressmen” drumming on development plans afoot now that the usurper has been “freed” from the “political noise” of an impeachment bid.
