Voters on CNN’s Entertainment Section chose Ishmael Bernal’s 1982 classic “Himala” as the “Best Asia-Pacific Movie” of all time. The film bested Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai” and Ang Lee’s “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” among others.

Cinemalaya at the UP Film Center: Aug. 7-10

There will be special repeat screenings of all the Cinemalaya entries. The 8 full-length features and 10 short films will be re-screened at the Film Center (Cinemabayad?) of the University of the Philippines Diliman from Monday, Aug. 7 through Thursday, Aug. 10. According to the Inquirer, this is in response to an overwhelming request for an extension of the festival’s run.
