WordPress: Getting rid of comment spam with Bot-Check

This is one great plugin. Using the Captcha approach for fighting comment spam, Bot-Check embeds an image with a code in your comments page, and humans are required to type in this code when commenting. It effectively stops the attempts of those ad spambots to post their spammy link comments. Well, at least until they upgrade their smarmy carpetbagger tricks, that is.

WordPress: How to justify post text

By default, WordPress, using the Kubrick theme, has the text in posts flushed to the left. If you want this to be justified instead, you’re going to have to go digging in your particular theme’s style.css file, in ~/public_html/wp-content/themes/[mytheme].

WordPress: Installing post views and related entries plugins

Had my first dive into WordPress plugins this evening. On the whole it was a pretty pleasant experience. WordPress 2.0’s “Dashboard” has gotten to a level of development that allows users to install plugins _nearly_ effortlessly. I installed two: a post-views counter plugin called umm View Count and a related-entries plugin called, well, Related Entries.
